Conditions for Participation

a) The competition is open to all composers.
Participants who were awarded prizes in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2022, or 2025 are no longer eligible to enter.

b) The submitted work must not be more than two years old and must not have been exploited in any manner reserved to the author, in particular by being reproduced, distributed, publicly performed, broadcast, or made publicly available on the Internet.

c) Only one work may be submitted, and it must be submitted in its entirety, not merely in part.

 

Details of the composition

1 • The composition should be written for one piano, either for solo performance or for more than one pianist, and may explore the full range of the instrument.

2 • The pieces should be original. It is important that they be appropriate in terms of difficulty for children and young adults and suitable for use in piano lessons. The pianistic and musical demands of the submitted compositions must be in line with these criteria.

3 • The piece or group of pieces should have a duration of at least 6 minutes and no more than 15 minutes.

4 • The score should be clear and comprehensible. Performance instructions must be provided in German or English.

IMPORTANT: Should the above-mentioned criteria 1-4 not be met, the pieces will not be considered by the jury.

 

Applications

Applications must be submitted in digital form. The submission deadline is September 20, 2027.

For the digital submission, please use the digital submission portal (→ Digital submission) and follow these steps:

- Complete the "Personal data" form and upload your photo.
- Under "Anonymized data", upload your composition as a PDF file. 
The composition will be submitted to the jury anonymously and without any personal information. Your identity will only be disclosed after the prizes have been awarded. Please therefore ensure that the uploaded file does not contain any personal information or metadata.
- You can finalize your submission after saving all information and uploading all required files, confirming that you have read and understood the competition’s legal information, and acknowledging the data protection declaration. Once your submission has been finalized, you will no longer be able to make any changes to your personal data or composition.
- A five-digit code will then be generated automatically. This code will be used to identify your composition throughout the competition.
- You will receive a confirmation email at the email address you provided. The email will confirm your registration and provide the five-digit code assigned to your composition.
